Fit over 40 review

How can you be Fit over 40

Last week I turned 40 and as part of the process of reaching another one of those ages with a 0 on the end I decided to take a look at what I should do differently with my health and exercise.

Yes, I know, age is just a number and it is more important to treat your body well, but there are health and fitness issues that will make a difference in exercise, for example we produce less testosterone naturally as we get older so it is more difficult to gain muscle.

As I was looking for information I ran across an eBook called Fit over 40. Fit over 40 is a very interesting eBook written by Jon Benson and Tom Venuto. The reason that this book is interesting is that it is not just a do this, do that, eat this, don’t eat that, type of book. Instead this book is big on motivation and shows you a better way to reach your goals. The way the book uses is through example.

Here are the three sections of Fit over 40

Fit over 40 reviewFit over 40 Part one

Jon Benson describes his struggles and successes and how he was able to transform his body and health. And further Jon lays outs some great principles

  • BodyWorks: Strength Strategy
  • Inner Fuel: The Taste of Health
  • I Can See The Valley: New Hills, New Horizons
  • Begin and Believe
  • Post-40 Training Tips

Fit over 40 Part two

This is the exciting meat of this book. Now that we have a basis for looking at how it looks and feels to be fit Jon Benson takes us through biographies of 52 people over 40 that have a great health and how they got that way, some were very sick and some were healthy but the important thing is all of these people are people that we can really relate to in one way or another. This way we do not have to look at pro athletes as an unreachable standard of how to get in great shape.

Fit over 40 Part three

This is where Tom Venuto of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle fame kicks in. Tom Goes through the five pillars of Anti Aging:

  • Pillar 1: Weight Strength Training
  • Pillar 2: Aerobic Training
  • Pillar 3: Learning To Be Flexible
  • Pillar 4: Lifelong Nutrition
  • Pillar 5: Recovery and Renewal

After going through this and helping us realize what a big part the mental game is in getting fit we now have a well rounded process for getting, keeping, and improving lifelong health.

Conclusion of Fit over 40 Review

Fit over 40, I believe is a great read and reference book for almost anyone over 40 years old. In comparing Fit over 40 to Burn the Fat Feed the muscle, I find that this book is less in the actual workout regimen but is much better in role models. It is always easy in popular culture to find the freaks, the people over 90 that do triathlons, or the young kid that swims the English Channel. But what about the rest of us? How about the people to old to be pro athletes (although the book has a couple) but still young enough to be incredibly fit and healthy?

Any day that you are having motivation problems you can come back to this book on your computer and read about someone that is just like you and has overcome what you are struggling with.

I really recommend Fit over 40 to keep your motivation and for $39.00 it is a great value.

Weight Loss Contest for the Summer

Tom Venuto sent me this article about a Weight Loss Contest for the Summer. Tom as you may know is the creator of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle. For the last couple years in the late Spring he has been putting on a big weight loss contest for the summer.

Weight Loss Contest for the SummerWeight loss contests, especially the Biggest Loser, where obese people drop insane amounts of body weight – like 10, 15 or even 20 lbs in a week – have become extremely popular. Many people say they get incredibly inspired and motivated watching these huge weight losses take place right before their eyes.

Weight Loss Contest for the Summer

I agree that fitness contests are a powerful motivational catalyst. But I also believe that there are some fatal flaws in contests that encourage rapid “weight loss.” That’s why I finally decided to host my own body transformation contest – the “Burn The Fat Challenge”…

But Our Contest Was NOTHING Like The Biggest Loser…

Our fitness contest is different because it’s a “body composition transformation” contest – not just a “weight loss” contest.

If you’re not hip to what “body composition” means, then the results of our first contest are going to blow your mind: Josh, the men’s champ, and Ryan one of the top finalists, both only lost one pound.

You might be thinking, “what kind of weird body transformation contest were you running where the winner and the finalists only drop a pound?”

Well, it might seem weird if you thought success at body transformation ONLY meant dropping large amounts of weight on the scale, but…

What About The Difference Between Fat Loss and Weight Loss?

What if you gain muscle while losing weight? Think about this – if you gain muscle in a weight loss contest, you get penalized, right? But shouldn’t you be REWARDED for gaining muscle as well as burning fat? Wouldn’t that be the ultimate prize?

That’s the fatal flaw of “weight loss” contests: Most people are obsessed with scale weight but don’t pay any attention to their body composition – the all-important fat-to-muscle ratio.

Of course, some of the contestants in our last Burn The Fat Challenge contest DID drop a lot of weight – 14, 19, even 26 lbs in only 7 weeks (49 days). In our upcoming 98 day challenge those amounts could be double that. But the person who drops the most pounds is not necessarily voted the winner in the Burn The Fat Challenge.

Weight Loss Contest for the Summer

Weight Loss Contest for the Summer

Some contestants became winners because they made astonishing improvements in their muscle to fat ratio, even though they didn’t lose much weight.

For example, Josh lost LESS than a pound because the solid new muscle weight replaced the fat weight. He looks leaner AND more muscular, but the scale hardly changed at all!

How Gaining LEAN Muscle While Losing Fat Helps Women Get Fit, Sexy and Bikini-Ready…

The Burn the Fat System works for women too, and replacing fat with muscle is EXACTLY what most women need, but aren’t getting, because most women are worried about getting “bulky.”

Women who don’t train for more muscle are making a BIG mistake! What most women don’t realize is that if you strip off fat AT THE SAME TIME as you put on lean muscle, you don’t get bulky – you get strong and sexy!

The idea that women who gain muscle will look bulky or masculine is completely false (except for women who take anabolic steroid drugs, and I would NEVER recommend that!)

One of our female champs, Sarah, gained an astonishing 7 pounds of muscle during one of our previous Burn the Fat contests. Her body transformation puts to rest the idea that women get bulky from gaining muscle. They also reveal why the scale can play tricks on you…

Sarah actually GAINED a pound of bodyweight according to the scale, increasing from 119 to 120 pounds, BUT her body fat decreased from 19% to a ripped 12.6%.

These results are definitely not typical. Most people don’t lose 7 pounds of fat weight and replace it with 7 pounds of muscle weight in 7 weeks. More typical results might be 1-2 pounds per week of fat lost (7-14 pounds in 7 weeks) and, if you do everything right, 2 or 3 pounds of muscle gained at the same time.

However, these body composition transformations do show what is possible with hard work, a goal, support and accountability.

3 Things You Must Know To Make Body Transformations Like These

My fat burning programs have helped dozens of men and women lose over 100 pounds, and up to as much as 256 pounds. I’ve published their success stories on the Burn The Fat Website, in the burn the fat newsletter and in our famous success story interviews at the Burn The Fat Inner Circle.

Why then, did I share the success stories above, where there was virtually no “weight loss”, instead of 100+ pound massive weight loss stories – the kind so popular on TV shows today?

There are 3 major reasons:
1. I wanted you to see real-world proof that it IS possible to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time…
2. I wanted you to realize the difference between weight loss and fat loss…
3. I wanted you to finally give up the notion that weight loss is the only goal that matters

You may have a lot of weight to lose (body fat), but weight loss is not all there is to a body transformation.

Some people are not seriously overweight, but they are seriously unhappy with their bodies.

Whichever is your situation – you want to drop 40, 70 or even 100+ pounds, or if you don’t need to lose a lot of weight but you want to firm-up, lean-out and re-shape how your body looks, here is the perfect chance for you to do it.

We hold two Burn the Fat Body transformation contests per year. Our winter contest (the holiday challenge is only 7 weeks (49 days) long and takes place over the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year’s Holidays.

We are running another transformation contest over the summer of 2011.

It’s NOT a weight loss contest – it’s a “BODY COMPOSITION TRANSFORMATION CONTEST.”

If you choose to enter and accept this challenge, you will take a “before” photograph of yourself no later than May 25th

You will also record your body weight AND your ULTRA-IMPORTANT body fat percentage. The body fat test will then tell you how much of your weight is fat and how much is muscle.

You may lose a lot of weight, or you may lose only a little. However, the winners of the Burn the Fat challenge will be chosen based on the following:

1. The improvement in your body as seen in your before photo compared to your after photo.
2. The improvement in your body composition (the fat-to-muscle ratio)
3. The essay you will write about your experience at the end of the 98 day contest.

For full contest details, including information about the grand prize trip to MAUI, check out this page of the burnthefat.com website:

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle – Complete Review

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewI was searching through the most popular fitness e-books a little while ago and ran into a book, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle that seemed to be getting a lot of hype from others as the single best fitness book available.

A book by a natural bodybuilder was going to show people how to lose weight and actually gain muscle while losing weight?

Is Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle  the best fitness book out there? I had to see this book myself and decided to give it a review.

Burn the fat feed the muscle is an e-book that has been created by bodybuilding champion Tom Venuto that attempts to teach people all aspects of losing weight while gaining muscle. Many people have called Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle the greatest single best fitness book ever put together and with that kind of hype I wanted to go through chapter by chapter to see if this book really lives up to it’s reputation.

What does Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle include?

The Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle sales letter lists six bonuses which total about another 100 pages of information that I would rather not cover as they are bonuses and not the book itself. I would like to say though that these bonus books are a fantastic addition as they do a deep dive into some of the things that are truly important that no one seems to cover.

Just be aware that the book has a complete diet listed within it and these books are supplemental reports dealing with the burning questions that many people have and that is mainly: Why do certain foods make us fat and other foods do not?

Burn the fat feed the muscle book setup

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle weighs in at an impressive 340 pages. The book is really solid and has not a single picture although there are some tables of information so there is a lot of reading to do. You can still print up the book but just as any other book on the internet you are going to have to either read the book on your computer or get it printed up.

I will not review each chapter individually but instead would like to go through an overview of the sections of the book as well as list some points that the author raises.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewIntroduction -In burn the fat feed the muscle, Tom Venuto stresses the importance of some principles such as no quick fixes, weight loss is not the same as fat loss and that the book is not even just about fat loss but more about making people healthier.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewGoal setting, strategies and motivation –As we all know goal setting is very important to reaching what you want with your health and although I have written extensively about this subject in the past Tom Venuto has done a fantastic job in burn the fat feed the muscle of really crystallizing the art of goal setting so that it will work much better for almost anyone.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewBody types, how to identify what you need – This is the first place in burn the fat feed the muscle where I like the way that Tom Venuto has really broken down how people have different body types. Almost every trainer I have ever seen thinks that every person’s body will react the same way with the same diet and exercise and this book stops that idea dead in its tracks.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewEating, Food, Liquids, and actual meal plans – Tom Venuto covers a couple of very important points that are very often overlooked in most other books and those are proper intake of liquids and foods that you should eat. Tom Venuto uses about 20 pages to cover foods that you should and should not eat including replacements for some of the bad foods that you are already eating.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewSupplements – Tom Venuto, in Burn the fat feed the muscle, and I are of essentially the same mind on the use of supplements and how this industry is very good at marketing many overpriced products with very little benefits to almost any user unless they are in a very sickly state. Let’s face it, in North America our prosperity has not lead most people to under eat so the supplementation is not the most important thing.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewHowever, Tom Venuto has included information on the most important supplements and I was a little surprised but happy to see how straightforward he is about many of the supplements in the bodybuilding industry and the effect that magazines advertising has had on the objectiveness if those magazines.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewCardio training – We all know how important exercise is in losing weight and the diet that has been created in Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle is definitely geared toward having both cardio and weight training as an essential part of the package. I have never seen a diet that did not at least mention exercise but this book stresses it as very important part of the equation and many other diets would do their followers more justice by stressing a lot more exercise.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewWeight training – What would you expect from a natural bodybuilding champion. Tom Venuto covers the exercises that you should do to gain strength and muscle as easily as possible and goes into a lot of detail with tactics that you have never seen before.

Burn the fat feed the muscle price and purchase information

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle sells on the website for $39.00. This price seems to be in line with most ebooks and is a very popular price. Prices for e-books seem to be artificially low probably because of the lack of a hard bound product and some people’s lack of confidence. In purchasing this book there is a secure page in which to make the purchase so credit card information can be trusted across the internet and a third party takes care of the transaction so that there is no one person that has access to your credit card number but instead only secure computer systems do the transaction.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Complete ReviewAlso Tom Venuto offers the book for only $39.00 plus an eight week money back guarantee. I like the guarantee because if you were to buy this book and decided after a few weeks that it is not something you want to follow then you should really deserve to get a refund.

….Here is a personal review…..

So far I have lost 37 pounds following your “Burn The Fat” guidelines. I was a tight size 18 and am now a loose 12. I weighed 202 pounds and now weigh 165. I feel great and I don’t feel deprived at all. I have changed my lifestyle and am thrilled with the results on every level. I am currently re-evaluating my goals because I BELIEVE I can do more than I ever thought possible.
Nena Nerhan

I have to admit it – I am really impressed by Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle

I was initially skeptical of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle as I have seen a hundred “Miracle Diets” come and go over the years and did not expect anything more, even from a competitive bodybuilder. I am now though pleasantly surprised and happy to have found this book.

The real rant that I always have with exercise books is that books tend to be fads that just cover one subject whether it is right or wrong and I have far to many of those books already. At least I know that in 10 years Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle will still be relevant because every page in it makes sense.

On the positive side this book is really packed with a lot of detail on how to eat, what to eat, cardio and weight training plans as well as a easy to read style that definitely does away with the hype and does a very good job of realistically training a person to think, eat and exercise right to drop the weight that the want and need to live a healthier lifestyle.

…..And her is one last personal review

“Hey Tom, I just wanted to let you know that today I got my body fat tested using the Jackson-Pollack formula for skinfold, and ended up hitting 4% bodyfat!!!!!!!! Thank you for your guidance in your Burn The Fat manual, I feel like I owe you far more than I paid for the book. During this whole process, I became an ACE certified personal trainer and I’ve been trying to pass on some of your thoughts and motivation to my clients. Thank you!”

In an industry that is full of fads, quick fixes and hype, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle, although relying on hype in its sales letter definitely does not fall into this trap in its content. I think that this book just may be the best fitness book around. I highly recommend this book for people that are just starting to improve their health as well as to people that have a last few stubborn pounds to lose.
