Chelsea duo set to break 21-year old Premier League record! – FCNaija

Cesar Azpilicueta and Alvaro Morata are set to break a Premier League record for the most prolific partnership in terms of direct route to goals.

Already Azpilicueta is responsible for six of the 10 Premier League goals that Morata has scored, and they are enroute to surpassing the record set by the pairings of Mike Newell and Alan Shearer, at Blackburn, and Liverpool’s Stan Collymore and Robbie Fowler – both in 1995-96.

At the rate Chelsea’s defender-striker duo are going, they should easily match and surpass that figure of nine.

“It’s working, obviously!” Azpilicueta said in a post-match interview. The two Spaniards have also produced the most fruitful route to goal in any of Europe’s top five leagues.Football Prediktor

No player has provided as many assists for a single team-mate as in the Azpilicueta-Morata partnership.

They are now just three goals off the Premier League record

Manager Antonio Conte said on Boxing Day: “There is this great link between him (Azpilicueta) and Alvaro, it’s not the first time. I hope they continue in this way.

“Morata has to pay for not just one dinner but more for Azpi, if they invite me I want to go with them.”Football Prediktor
