Is Diet Soda Harmful?

Thanks to the considerable awareness about weight loss generated by experts and media alike, almost all of those so-called ‘bad foods’ now have seemingly ‘good alternatives’ so that you could enjoy your favorite foods without getting fatter.

So we have diet drinks to replace fizzy drinks and diet soda to replace the original sweet soda. But how healthy are these diet alternatives? In this article we shall take a closer look at that.

The Problem with Diet Soda

Take diet soda for example. It may contain fewer calories than the original soda, but they are also loaded with lots of caffeine which makes equally harmful.

In case you don’t know already, caffeine is a diuretic that makes us dehydrated by flushing out all the water from our body.

The more caffeine we consume, the more our body would become dehydrated. But how would you know if your body is dehydrated or not? Here are some quick symptoms to check out.

1. Fatigue: Are you always tired? Do you feel unable to concentrate on any one thing? Do you tend to feel sleepy even after sleeping for a long while? Do you feel that you lack the energy required to perform your daily chores? Believe it or not, they are all symptoms of dehydration.

2. Headaches: We all know how annoying headaches could be. But do you know why they happen? Very often, when our brain is deprived of even a little amount of water, we suffer from headaches. Keep in mind that almost two-thirds of our brain is composed of nothing but water.

3. Difficulty in passing bowels: When water gets depleted from your body, your stool gets harder and harder, consequently making it difficult for you to pass the bowels. You would notice that almost always a patient suffering from constipation is advised to drink lots of water and fruits; while water keeps the stool soft, fiber pushes the bowels so hard that you should have no difficulty passing them at all.

4. Dark-colored urine: Do you urinate less than usual? Is the color of your urine dark? This is yet another pointer to the fact that your body is dehydrated and it needs water supply. When your body’s water level is reduced to an abnormally low level, the kidneys find it difficult to flush out the toxins and other waste products properly from our body and consequently our urine becomes abnormally dark.

5. Bad breath: If you have tried high and low and are still unable to get rid of your bad breath, consider increasing your water intake. Bad breath is caused by bacteria, and water helps flush out these bacteria from your mouth, thereby ridding you of bad breath.

As you can see, diet sodas are not a good choice because they could make your kids’ body dry as hell. If you really want to control your kids” soda intake, persuade them to drink water more often.

Natural Earache Remedies For You And Your Kids

Natural earache remedies are very popular because they are effective in so many cases. As a father with a couple of kids I have seen the problems that my kids and other peoples kids have for earaches and ear infections.

Usually you just give them some kids Tylenol but this may not actually be needed.

Are Natural Earache Remedies Effective?

ear-checkMost infections occur in the outer ear. These infections are easy to access with drops and they usually clear up fast. In these cases, yes, natural and home remedies can be very effective.

However, you should be sure what you are treating before you begin using any natural earache remedies because infections in the middle ear are much harder to treat and can be serious.

Middle ear infections are characterized by severe pain which is usually more acute than in an outer ear infection. In some cases, swelling occurs behind the eardrum to the point where the eardrum perforates to allow the pus to escape. This can cause long term deafness.

So it is very important to see a doctor before beginning any natural earache treatment, to be sure what type of infection it is.

Inner ear infections can also occur. Often these are not painful at all but the person’s balance is affected.

Cause And Prevention Of Ear Infections

earMany ear infections are caused by water or wind chilling the ear. Cover ears on cold, windy days and if kids come home wet, get them warm and dry as fast as possible.

Children and adults who are prone to sinus infections may develop ear infections along with that when they have a cold. Keeping warm and using remedies to prevent sinus blockage can also prevent earache in these cases.

Wearing a hat and ear coverings can help (even in the house). A lot of the body’s heat is lost through the head.

Natural Treatments For Earache

The best natural earache remedy that we have found is garlic mixed with olive oil. Take one clove of garlic and mix it in a blender with 3 tablespoons olive oil. Blend until smooth.

Lie (or have the child lie) on one side so that the painful ear is upward. Use 3 drops of the mixture and let it drip all the way into the ear canal. This means staying in position for around a half hour. Then keep the ear warm with an infra red lamp, electric blanket or similar.

Repeat the treatment 3 times a day. The olive oil will clear earwax, helping to clean out the infected area, and the garlic helps with infection.

Swimmer’s Ear

Water can become trapped in the outer ear after swimming or bathing, irritating the skin of the ear canal. Bacteria can then breed in the warm, wet ear and cause an infection.

Swimmer’s Ear can be prevented by treating the ear with drops of white vinegar after every time that you swim (or if your child puts their head under water at bath time). White vinegar can also be used to treat the problem but it is better to start before any pain develops.

If natural earache remedies do not resolve the problem in a couple of days, if the pain becomes worse, if there is fever or if there are signs that the infection has spread to the inner ear, you should see a doctor.

Your day could consist of the following meals:

First Meal 

fat loss for idiots success1) Mixture of vegetables in steamed form: When you are starting the diet, I would recommend that you eat a bowl of steamed vegetables.

You can have any number of vegetables you wish in the mix. If however, you choose to eat them fried, make sure you use as little oil as possible; I would also suggest the use of olive oil over your regular fatty oil.

2) Slices of roasted beef and hard boiled eggs: It is important to start building your lean muscle mass right from day one, as more lean muscles means faster fat burning and a stronger and flatter body.
