Latest transfer reports indicate that German Bundesliga outfit, FC Freiburg as well as Turkish club Trabzonspor have joined in the race to sign Nigeria international Abdullahi Shehu from Cyprus-based Anorthosis Famagusta. Earlier this week, Championship side Birmingham City enquired about the availability of the Nigerian, but it now appears they will now face serious competition from both clubs who are also keen to add the impressive Nigerian to bolster their squad in the winter market.
AOIFootball.com reports that Trabzonspor are trying to use fellow Nigerian Ogenyi Onazi to lure Abdullahi to Turkey, with the club willing to double the defender’s wages should he decide to dump Anorthosis during the January window.
However, it’s understood that Abdullahi is not keen to rush on any move because the player does not want to jeopardise his chances of making Nigeria’s World Cup list.
Lionel Messi has identified another player for signing in the coming season for Barcelona, according to reports.
Messi has told the Barcelona directors of Justin Kluivert at Ajax and he is of the opinion that the young player has what it takes to excel at Camp Nou as reported by Diario Sport. The Ajax striker is the son of former Barcelona hitman Patrick Kluivert and has gone to impress this year which has caught the attention of Messi.
After the success of Paulinho this season, Messi’s recommendations now carry further weight with the board and he has urged them to pursue a deal for the young Dutchman.
Kluivert is rated €3m and his contract expires in 2019, the forward has scored six goals in 20 games. A January move is unlikely, however, with Barca having other priorities. But a summer market deal will be considered due to Messi’s influence in the deal.
