Who is Dolvett Quince?

A couple of weeks ago the people at the Biggest Loser announced that Dolvett Quince would be joining Anna Kournikova and Bob Harper on the the Biggest Loser this season as one of the new trainers. I had to ask myself who is Dolvett Quince? So I looked around.

Who is Dolvett Quince?

Well Dolvett is a trainer with a personal fitness gym in Atlanta Georgia and after looking around a bit (I love Google) I was able to figure out that he is in fact a very popular person in the Atlanta social scene. Also Dolvett Quince is also the creator of  Me and My Chair – a workout video that is based completely around strengthening and toning your body using nothing but a chair.

Dolvett Quince Training Philosophy

Dolvett is only the 7th trainer in the hostory of the Biggest Loser so what can we expect from him? In interviews so far Dolvett has said that he will be tough but fair. We can take this to mean I would expect that he will be less intense than Jillian Michaels was but at the same time a very imposing guy in the gym. Being from a personal training 1 on 1 background we should expect him to understand the emotions going through people as they lose a lot of weight.

“I think in the process of training you develop your muscles and challenge yourself. Those endorphins are being built in your body and that can bring about a lot of emotion and people tend to vent,” he explained.

“During the training process you’ll see a lot of tears, some laughing, even some anger. It’s my job to be there for that person, not only as a trainer but as a friend in a lot of ways.”

Quince added: “That is why it is personal training. You want to be personal with that individual and make sure you are there for them and help them progress and get through those things.”

When do we Get to Meet Dolvett Quince?

Biggest Loser is Back soon. The new season of Biggest Loser is starting just next week on September 20th on NBC with new trainer Anna Kournikova, Dolvett Quince, and Bob Harper. Then we finally get a real answer to who is Dolvett Quince?

Ya’Mon

I’m here today a little more tan and relaxed than I was a week ago. We spent the week at the Beaches resort in Turks and Caicos (in the Caribbean) where I ate, read, and swam in that rotation for about six days. We were totally cut off from cell phone service and internet for almost a week and it was fabulous. I thought I’d start twitching without the internet, but no offense to my beloved Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Google Reader, My Fitness Pal and blog, but I didn’t miss it at all. Being totally unplugged is oh so nice and is making me think that I should do it at least once a week.

Vacation taught me to spend more time outside, to unplug, to sit and read and to embrace doing nothing. I also need to make jerk chicken very soon. I thought my trip would be spent eating sushi, but the jerk chicken won my heart. I love you jerk chicken. Let’s be friends.

And finally, can I just say that it feels good to have this year’s big looming dates done and over with? I’m horrible at losing weight for an event. I thought getting on a plane and stripping down to a bathing suit in front of people would inspire more weight loss, but it only stressed me out and made me panic. Stress+ panic does nothing for my weight loss. Combine that with a trip to the doctor who basically said in no uncertain terms “if you don’t lose weight, you will get diabetes”. I’m on it doctor. For reals.

I joined Zumba the week before I left and loved it. Our local gym offers it three days a week (monday, tuesday and wednesday) and I plan to be there for each one. Combine that with calorie counting, and strength training and I feel good about my direction.

Breakfast this morning is one of my favorites: 3/4 C whole, plain organic yogurt, all fruit blackberry jam, fresh blueberries and a little Ezekiel granola.

View From the Weekend

My main goal this weekend is to get organized. I have a very busy week ahead of me with two jewelry shows, a little catering, getting jewelry ready to go into an art gallery, freelance work, traveling to NC for a bead show, shipping out etsy orders, plus my normal work, housework, exercise, blogging and somewhere in there: eating. It’s going to be crazy so instead of running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off like I usually am when I’ve got a lot going on I’m being proactive.

This is my first weekend in awhile without travel, or something to do so I decided it would be spent at home instead of our usual outings. I’m in the process of getting the whole house cleaned. Cooking and planning food for next week, so we don’t resort to eating out. And making sure I’m working smarter.

(getting the kitchen cleaned)

I’m catching up on design work, jewelry orders and I’ve got bacon cheddar biscuits and muffins in the freeze. I’ve also got carnitas in the crock pot, salad made, vegetables chopped, rice in the cooker.

Josh has been helping out too. He dug out soil in our raised beds. Wearing Guinness pajama pants.

I made a big batch of cream cheese biscuits. Filling them with one slice of cooked bacon plus 1/2 oz. jalapeno cheese. Freezing for quick breakfasts this week.

I’ve been using my Nook Color to read recipes in the kitchen. No more lugging the laptop into the kitchen! I can even google: “how to make buttermilk” while I’m baking.

Organizing the kitchen drawers. I love having all of my measuring spoons laid out like this.

Enjoying the flowers around our house. Thankful that the previous owners did a little landscaping.

I made a batch of Krissie’s Blueberry Sour Cream Muffins. I used yogurt instead because my sour cream smelled weird. I used wayy too many blueberries, I used three small containers thinking “I love blueberries! I need lots of them!” Wasn’t the best idea I had. I also used evaporated cane juice, white whole wheat flour and sprinkled raw sugar on top.

The flower I’ve managed to keep alive.

And finally…

Our cat Simon came home after roaming the woods for about six hours. Thank goodness.

oh! I lost 7 pounds this week! I’m going to do a Sunday weight loss updates for every new pound that I lose!
