8 Simple Steps to Lose Weight

Steps to Lose Weight

1. Find time to exercise regularly – If you can, make it a point to workout every day. Walk, jog, bike or swim for at least 30 minutes a day. Get your heart rate going with cardio exercise and burn more calories. Strength training is also necessary to develop muscle mass and tone your body.

2. Be sure to eat a healthy breakfast – Never skip breakfast because it is the most important meal of the day. A good breakfast provides the nutrients and energy you need to get your work done all morning. It also jump starts your metabolism and helps you burn more calories throughout the day. Include protein and some amount of fat in your morning meal. You will feel full longer and avoid over-eating later in the day.

3. Keep a record of everything you eat – A food journal helps you keep track of how much food you are actually eating. Studies show that people who record their caloric intake consume up to 15% less calories than people who don’t. At the very least, keeping track of your progress will help you stick to your weight loss program.

4. Plan your meals ahead of time – This simple step to lose weight can make or break your weight loss program. Having a meal plan ensures that you are able to consume only the amount of calories allotted for the day. If you have no idea what you’re going to eat for your next meal you’re likely to eat anything you can lay your hands on, and there’s no guarantee that it will be healthy and low-calorie.

5. Control food portions – Make sure you know how much is in one serving of a particular food. By controlling food portions, you will also control the number of calories you consume. This is a simple yet effective step to lose weight.

6. Cut out carbonated drinks and high-calorie beverages – Soft drinks contain a lot of sugar and can make you fat, so eliminate or reduce your intake of carbonated drinks. High-calorie beverages such as sweetened fruit juices, milkshakes, lattes and alcoholic drinks should also be avoided if you want to lose weight quickly.

7. Drink plenty of water – The body needs water for proper metabolism. Drink a glass of water before each meal to help you feel full more quickly and avoid eating too much.

8. Eat wholesome and natural foods – Choose foods that are fresh and as close to their natural state as possible. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, beans, nuts and seeds. Foods that are unprocessed contain more nutrients and fiber to fill you up without adding too many calories to your diet, thus helping you to lose weight.

Following these steps to lose weight will help you to lose weight consistently and easily.

Biggest Loser Finals Tonight

Biggest Loser is finishing another season tonight. I have been trying to keep up but have not done as good a job as in past seasons. Why not do a wrap up tomorrow after we see who wins. We will finally get to see tonight if the winner will be Ramon Medeiros, John Rhode or Antone Davis

Biggest Loser Finals Tonight

Antone Davis

Antone Davis

Antone has been a strong competitor and as an athlete he knows how to workout really hard. Not only that but the time away from the ranch should feel a lot like training camp for him.

Biggest Loser Finals Tonight

John Rhode

John Rhode

John is a really strong player but now that it is time to workout from home I am not sure if his team play will be any good. Now it is time for the workouts and scale to count. Never count him out either though.

Ramon Medeiros

Ramon Medeiros

Ramon is the comeback kid this season on the Biggest Loser. He came back after winning the marathon and is the youngest in the group. As well though he has a new love that might be a distraction. On the other hand Allison Sweeney thinks that he is the favorite.

I finally get to just sit back and watch the show and enjoy the player flashbacks. My wife hates that part because we have already seen it all but I think it is kind of nice to watch the transformation in a short time. The show will of course have lots of tears as usual and emaciated looking finalists as they diet down for tonight (remember Ally a couple seasons ago) and they will all be looking their best and smiles all around.

Hopefully we will also gets some hints on what will happen with trainers next season as the next season always seems to start right after new years day. Were you happy with Dolvett Quince and Anna Kournikova? How about getting new trainers every season to work alongside Bob Harper?

So what do you think about tonights Biggest loser final? Who do you think is going to win and who is your favorite player this season on the Biggest Loser?

Insanity Day 10: Minus 50 to 29

Today marks the 10th day of the Insanity Workout for me. Last week I was so sore, there were days when I was moving like an old lady. Today the soreness is more specific, like the back of my right thigh, but my body is getting used to the activity. I like being in a place where my body feels more conditioned and everything is more fluid.

It’s helpful for me to have a plan of action as far as exercise goes. I wake up do a little work, and when Josh wakes up we exercise. The calendar tells me which workout to do, and I do it. When I have a plan, the excuses are smaller. I can get to a place mentally where I do it anyway. It’s staying there that is the challenge. The more times that I do this, get up and exercise, or start again with a routine, the easier it becomes. The alternative is becoming less and less appealing each day that I take the time to make what I want happen.

***

I hope you all had a delicious Thanksgiving last week. I wasn’t in the mood to post, but want to let you know that I often post my exercise on twitter and facebook, if you care to see what I’m doing there. I’m also tracking my food on myfitnesspal.com. I’m weighing in once a week and so far I’m close to 3 pounds loss from Friday when I weighed in. I’m looking forward to another loss on Friday.

This is so random, but do you go through outfit phases? I do. I will wear the hell out of an outfit that I love.  This is my new favorite outfit. I don’t know why, it’s just comfortable and comforting to me. The jacket was purchased at Maurices, late fall last year at a deep discount. The jeans are from walmart of all places and sandals are from Avenue. It happened to be really warm Saturday. I know that look on my face says “something smells”, but it was one of the better ones. I also want to use this outfit to track my progress, by taking a picture wearing it every month.

More randomness: here’s me and Josh on Sunday after a dinner/lunch thing and I wanted to post because I was wearing a new wrap dress that I’m pretty sure was not flattering at this stage of my life, but I wore it anyway and because Josh looks so darn cute.

And finally, the last random photo for this post. My favorite salad at the moment. Leafy greens (preferably arugula or spinach) with cranberries, goat cheese, almonds and ginger dressing.
