Atkins in bankruptsy

I am not a big fan of the Atkins diet although I do like the idea of increasing ones protein in your diet. I read a series of news articles today that talked about how the skeptics were wrong and the Atkins diet is a fad. I do not believe that this could possibly be true for several reasons. First, I hear as many people talking about Atkins and starting Atkins diets as I did 5 years ago. Secondly, a fad, especially with diets is not going to last more than one year tops and the Atkins diet has been around for twenty years at least. Thirdly I do not like the idea of Atkins being called a fad because most studies that I have seen show that people on the Atkins diet lose at least as much weight in the first six months as on any other diet…the problem seems to be that people have trouble staying on the diet as it seems to be artificial in what you eat, how long can you eat steak and fish and no carbs and feel to great.

The thing that the media loves is a company that is in the news going into bankruptcy but what we should really be looking at is what we can learn from the Atkins diet and looking to science as to why it seems to work at least in the short term. The reason that I am against the diet is that by it’s very nature it will be hard on your kidneys and over the long term even if the risk of heart disease is not increased there can not be any real health benefits besides some weight loss. I believe that a weight reduction diet should not just drop fat but make a person healthier as well that is why I always try to stress the importance of exercise.

Free Weight Loss Plans and Programs

Trying to lose weight is a difficult task. Not only are you being bombarded with new diet fads that promise hard to believe results, but you are also being bombarded with information that is completely false and if you try these plans you are going to less likely to stick with the new idea of losing weight. This is why it is vital that you find a healthy diet weight loss plan. Not doing so will only cause you to avoid all weight loss plans in the future and you will ultimately never lose the weight.

There are many websites that offer a free diet plan for you to utilize so that you literally lose nothing when you try these new diets. So how can you find these diets? A simple search online through a search engine will give you thousands of hits. The work then begins as you need to decipher between those that are considered a healthy diet and those that are nothing but fad plans that will only have you lose the weight for a short-term basis. You goal is to find a weight loss plan that teaches you a new way to eat without having to starve yourself in order to finally shed the pounds. Too many times people give into these plans that promise losing twenty pounds within two weeks and are surprised that after they stop the plan that they actually gain that weight back or even more weight.

So, what is the criteria that you should set for a free diet plan? For starters, you should make sure that the plan includes a balanced diet in that you are getting foods from all of the food groups. If you are only eating one type of food, for example, the cabbage diet, though you may lose weight quickly because you are essentially starving your body, you will not keep this weight off. Secondly, you want a plan that will help you lose weight by changing your life. You should not look at this as it is just as though this is temporary and once you lose the weight that you want you can then eat whatever you want. This is where most people find the hardest point to accept, this new plan needs to become how you eat from now on, so that you maintain the size that you want to be once you get there.

With the invention of the Internet, it has literally made it easier to find these free diet plans, which saves you money and the number of resources that respond when you simply type in ‘free diets’ is incredible. However, what should you watch out for? Watch out for fad plans of course, but how can you tell if the plan is a fad? Do a little extra research on the plan that you are interested in and find reviews of what other people say, look at the aspects involved in the plan to see if they appear healthy and above all else, ask your physician before you begin so that they too can look at the aspects in the plan. Also, watch out for those plans that say that they are free then ask for your credit card number in case you ever want to buy something else from them, this can more than likely be called a hoax since they are asking for your personal information.

Overall, use your common sense. If the plan seems to good to be true, then chances are that it is. Once you start it if it feels as if you stay hungry or you notice that you begin to have side-effects such as headache, nausea, fainting or whatnot from the particular plan you choose, then see a doctor as it could be this particular plan is just not giving you enough substance to survive.

Can Fitness Help You Hit Your Goals Faster Or Will Nutrition Do It?

It’s the current hot fad conversation for the the fitness magazines and has even been on the national news networks.  They are saying that diet is better for your to accomplish certain things and exercise is better for other things.  Before we really get going, it’s important to know that one may be more effective than the other on certain things, but you will always need both to accomplish your goals.

With that said, let’s take a look at some different aspects of health and see how diet and your exercise routines fit into each one.   While you will probably roll your eyes, I really want you to understand that you need both to hit your goals… one will not just do.

Losing Weight – This is the one goal that almost every person is really going for.  In this case, if you want a faster impact then diet is quicker than exercise to help you lose weight.  When you consume less calories consistently, you will find that your body will drop body fat very fast, at least faster than exercise.   However, exercise is vital to your health because if you don’t do that then you will, overtime, lose muscle mass and that will lead to a lower metabolism.

Your Body Energy – The energy that you bring to your activities is really important.   I guess that I would have to give the slight advantage to exercise. Exercise allows you to very quickly boost your metabolism, but remember that you need the right diet to support that or it won’t happen.   So in this case you really can’t have one without the other… actually you can never have one without the other.

Happiness – Being happy is one of the best benefits of exercise and in this case I will give exercise the upper hand. Exercise makes you happy because you accomplish something and when you see results, you feel wonderful.  However, keep in mind that when you eat really healthy, you feel great too because you have that sense of accomplishment and knowing that you are doing something good for your body.

As you can tell, both are super important and both definitely feed off each other to help provide the best results from your workout plans. It’s not about one of the other… it’s about both!
