Breakfasts of The World

I share my breakfasts a lot on this blog. Usually for the last few months it has been oatmeal with seeds and nuts and fried cranberries but in the past I used to have a bagel with Nutella. On the weekends I might have an omelette or a smoothie.

The important thing to me though is to make sure that I drink water, eat solid filling food, and make sure that I am setup to have the energy for a great day.

But did you ever wonder what is normal for breakfast? I often do but surprisingly people in different countries eat different foods for breakfast. I don’t know why I am surprised about this really as each country has their own food that is local and normal

What do you think about the strange ideas of normal food in all these different places? Makes me wonder as well.

Antioxidant Smoothie

I am right now drinking a very great Antioxidant Smoothie to help my body in a battle…

Anyway I am on vacation this week and knew it would be a quiet week so of course on Saturday night I started getting a cold and have gone downhill since then. I have never seen a study on it but I truly believe that if you push yourself a little too hard for too long then as soon as your body sees a time for rest then you will just get sick to recover from the stress and pent up badness in your system.

Do you think so? Or am I a bit crazy thinking that?

Introducing My Antioxidant Smoothie

antioxidant smoothieI have been drinking lots of liquids but tonight I made an Antioxidant smoothie for my cold. The antioxidant smoothie has frozen mixed berries, frozen cranberries, frozen mango, hemp hearts, and cranberry juice. You can see a picture of it here. It is a little sour, not too bad at all and is really hitting the spot. But why these ingredients?

Cranberries – Vitamin C and fiber play a very important role in cranberry’s health benefits, it’s the amazing array of phytonutrients in cranberries that has gotten the special attention of health researchers. There are at least 5 key categories of health-supportive phytonutrients in cranberries

Mango -Mango is an excellent source of Vitamin-A and flavonoids like beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, and beta-cryptoxanthin. 100 g of fresh fruit provides 765 mg or 25% of recommended daily levels of vitamin A. These compounds are known to have antioxidant properties and are essential for vision. Mangos are also a very good source of vitamin-B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin-C and vitamin-E. Consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful oxygen-free radicals. Vitamin B-6 or pyridoxine is required for GABA hormone production within the brain.

Blueberries -Most health research on blueberries involves their phytonutrient content. Anthocyanins – the colorful antioxidant pigments that give many foods their wonderful shades of blue, purple, and red – are usually the first phytonutrients to be mentioned in descriptions of blueberries and their amazing health-supportive properties. While it is true anthocyanins are pretty spectacular when it comes to blueberries and their support of our body systems, there are actually a wide variety of health support phytonutrients found in blueberries.

Strwawberries -Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols, strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium. Just one serving — about eight strawberries — provides more vitamin C than an orange.

Hemp Hearts – Hemp Hearts are packed full of protein with 10 grams of plant-based protein per 30 gram serving size. Hemp Hearts are a great way to get an ideal ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3‘s including the rare EFA known as Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA). Testimonials have shown that GLA alone helps with arthritis, joint mobility, eczema, hormonal balance, migraines, menopause in women, healthy cholesterol blood pressure levels and even weight management.

Looking back and forward

Just wanted to shoot out a quick email today to give you a maybe tough but really important weekend task.

After a long Summer of fun and vacations I am back online and at the gym hard and heavy. Personally I have been looking this Summer at what works, what motivates people and what makes the difference between success and failure. And wanted to share a bit of that with you today.

Looking back and forwardYou probably know exactly what I am talking about. You start a workout plan, or a diet, or a job search and after a few days you lose interest. It is not only disappointing but I think it weighs down on you the next time you try something new or challenging and right off the bat wonder if YOU can in fact achieve.

How I once Quit Smoking

I remember back when I smoked cigarettes it was the same thing. You try to quit and after a few days nothing seems to have changed and you lose interest. Eventually some trigger in your brain switches and you succeed. It happened to me w2hen I quit smoking, that was a lot of years ago but just want to tell a bit about that story.

I would quit and start, cut down and start, research the best methods and quit and start. Nothing worked and I hated myself for failing. The real change that came was when I just decided that quitting was not important but changing my life was.

So here we are entering the weekend after labor day and I have to wonder if you are looking back on your Summer like me and getting ready for the fall and Christmas (107 shopping days left).

What You Have to Do Now

So maybe this weekend, or even today look longer out. I am sure you do not want to get in shape or lose weight for a dress, some clothes, or to run through the malls faster and more effectively. Look deep down instead, what is your real motivator? Once you have a motivator then sacrifice is not sacrifice. Skipping a chocolate bar, going to a gym, grabbing a smoothie instead of a hamburger is a lot easier.

I started my blog and these posts years ago just to help people get in better shape and it has turned from trying to help 100 people to now being something that consumes me. I know why I do this and wake up in the morning wondering how I can affect the lives of more people. I want to know how I can help you. But first, look deep and see what you really want.
