Saif Ali Khan sheds kilos, looks at least 15 years younger!

Saif Ali Khan is currently earning critical acclaim for his role in a currently popular web series. He also has big films lined up in the months ahead. What is also commendable is that despite keeping a busy schedule, Saif Ali Khan has lost oodles of weight and looks younger than ever!

The actor was recently spotted outside the airport with his family and evidently, there is a remarkable difference in his appearance. Our guess? The strict diet Bollywood’s Nawab has been following in the recent months has worked well for him!

However, Saif’s weight loss journey hasn’t been as easy as it sounds. Can you believe that the actor, who has never worked out under a gym trainer in 48 years of his life did all the self-coaching and transformed himself?

Following a no-carb, no-sugar diet

Sugar and carb are the two things you need to moderate for healthy and effective weight loss. The actor followed just this and lost weight. Saif followed a no-sugar, no-carb diet which helped him lose the extra muscular weight easy. He also practiced portion control.

His breakfast included something like oatmeal made with skimmed milk and topped off with some fresh fruits.

He restricted himself to a bowl of seasonal salad during lunchtime and for dinner, he usually had light fillet steak. The actor also generally loves home-cooked food and avoids eating outside.

Workout sessions

To complement his diet and get into shape fast, Saif also depended largely on high-intensity cardio sessions, which he did twice a day. Saif, who loves to experiment also made tweaks to his fitness regime and schedule. He did a mix of cardio, yoga, kickboxing and stretching to stay on top of the fitness game. A tennis player, he also likes to include walking into his everyday routine to stay fit.

The actor, in an interview, mentioned that the weight loss mission was something he personally wanted to do to get into the character’s skin. His character in the show, Sartaj Singh can be seen going through major changes in the second season and he wanted to do justice to the role. Speaking about the transformation, Saif said,

“Even though in the book, Sartaj Singh (the character) is a fit, well-dressed guy, when the series starts, he is in a bad place and is someone who doesn’t really care about what he looks like. So it was fine for him to be a bit overweight. But now that the action is picking up, I thought we should bring him up to what he actually is like — he is eating less and taking more drugs, which would naturally lead to a bit of weight loss and why he’s looking leaner.”

Saif said that his prep for the role was really simple. He ate healthy and worked out regularly. He added, “The physical preparation involved going to the gym and eating right for the role. Playing a Sardar cop, you have to look the part.”

If you look at Saif ‘s career graph, he has been making alterations to his looks. For his film Tanaji, Saif famously gained weight to look bulkier and heftier. For his other film, the actor will be seen in the role of a young dad for which he will soon begin shooting. For this, he will be again altering his look.
