Barcelona are reportedly planning an improved bumper contract for their French center-back, Samuel Umtiti.
Though the 24-year-old is only into his second season at the club, he has settled fast enough to become a first-team fixture at the Nou Camp. His form has sparked interest from across the continent – so too the £50m release clause on his current deal at the Spanish league leaders Barcelona are ready to offer him a new contract in a bid to prevent him leaving on the cheap, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. The outlet claims talks over a renewal for the French international will begin ‘in the coming weeks’. Umtiti is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and faces a month out of first-team action.
