FDA warns vs. unregistered food products, supplements

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 12) – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday advised the public against consuming and buying unregistered food products, as they may pose a health risk.

FDA, in an advisory, said that the following food items did not go through the proper evaluation process:

-Fat Thin Spices and Condiments Cinnamon Powder

-Fat Thin Spices and Condiments Sesame Seeds

-Sprout Organic Baby Food Banana Brown Rice with Cinnamon

-Sprout Organic Baby Food Apple Oatmeal Raisin with Cinnamon

-Eon Golden Fiesta Bihon

-Eon Fiesta Soy Sauce

-Eon Fiesta Sukang Puti

-Fatz Food Delicacies Malunggay Cashew Pastillas

-Fatz Food Delicacies Cashew Pastillas

-Mishima Tarako Toppings

“The FDA verified through post-marketing surveillance that the abovementioned food products are not authorized and the Certificates of Product Registration have not been issued,” food and drug regulators said.

The agency noted that since it was not able to test the said products for quality and safety, manufacturing, importing, exporting, selling, distributing, transferring, promoting and advertising them are prohibited under Republic Act No. 9711 or “Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.”

The FDA also warned the concerned establishments not to sell the said food items until their manufacturers secure necessary the permits and licenses.

It also asked public to check if certain items are registered with the FDA before purchasing them by going to its official website
