Spring into Fitness Week – Day 2

Fruit and Vegetables

Fruit and Vegetables

Well today I want to write about eating again. I know that I seem to always be talking about eating and exercise and today is the eating portion.

Drinking Water – While you are getting ready for Spring and Summer and the outdoor weather you have to remember that often the humidity is lower outside and you may need to increase your water intake. Do you already drink a lot of water? I find that it makes a huge difference in my energy when I am drinking a lot all day long.

Berries and fruit are popping up as well. We have been eating a lot of variety of berries all Winter but they are so expensive that I know lots of people are missing out. Getting the fruits and veggies that you need will give you the energy you need and gives you lots of extra water and nutrients, and antioxidants.

White Carbs – If you are looking to lose some weight (many people are), then one of the easiest ways for most people is just to cut down on the white carbs. White carbs to me are things like rice, potatoes and breads. I am not saying to get rid of it all but instead just cut back and see how it feels. Lots of people that try this are shocked at the increase in energy and weight loss at the same time and if you have any kind of gluten allergies that you don’t know about…well this would be great.

Finally crack out the barbeque. Mine has been frozen most of the Winter but eating some nice lean barbequed meat is great, increases your iron levels, helps your muscles heal and gets you outside into the sunshine.

Well hopefully these few tips help you out this week. Try and see how you can integrate them into your current lifestyle. Remember that it is the small changes made today that make for the big changes later.

Hiit: High Gi Carbs Right After?

hey ive been wondering. . . ive read that you should treat your post HIIT meal the same as after lifting. so my question is does that mean you should get high GI carbs asap after HIIT like when after lifting? it doesnt logically make sense to me to eat high GI carbs just after HIIT, where you are trying to burn lots of fat.
currently i am 5-7 and 138lbs, skinny arms and not much muscle. i want to build as much muscle as possible, but also shed the fat thats already currently on me, mainly my abs. and since i dont have much muscle to begin with, im worried that HIIT will eat away at my muscles if i dont feed them sufficiently after, but also worried that if i do start an insulin spike after, that it will hinder the fat burning. any insight on this?
replies much appreciated.

5 Fast and Easy Ways to Lose Weight – Works Everytime

It is very important to lose weight the healthy way, not in a way that would be hazardous to your health in any way. Do not panic, there are ways to make the pounds quickly and safely without the worry of side effects and other potential problems that may occur.

Here are some tips to help you lose weight safely:

# 1 eat 5 meals a day. This will increase your metabolism allowing you to burn more calories on a daily basis. Breakfast should be bigger than the other 4 meals because it gives you your energy for the day, and you should be as hungry later in the day because of light meals and snacks in between.

What I mean by snack is something healthy like an apple, grapefruit, or even a grain cracker. You get the point, simply make wise decisions about your choice of snacks and your choice of meal.

# 2 Think portion size

5 meal is good right? But it is important to eat portions. Look at your hand and make sure you put on your plate is the size of your fist, which is a good size to aim without much to do. This includes meat, fruits and vegetables.

# 3 Eat servings of each food group.

While eating, do not skip meals and do not avoid fats and carbohydrates. There are good fats and bad fats, so obviously you want to eat only good fats. A good fat in olive oil, you can cook with it to add to your diet.

Eat healthy carbohydrates such as potatoes or brown rice instead of white rice or pizza for example.

Drink pure water and clean

Who said that water is not good for you? Water is the king of fluids and it helps us digest food and keeps us hydrated frequently. It is better to drink the purest water possible. Spring water is my choice, but it is for you.

# 4 Eat lots of fiber

Fiber helps move food quickly through the intestines and eating it helps you feel full faster and keeps you full for a while after wards. If you can double your fiber intake, you may lose a few pounds each year just from this one thing.

# 5 The proteins are important

Proteins can take off pounds safely. It provides a stable balance between carbohydrates and insulin so you do not have spikes that can cause you to have low energy and cravings for sweets.
